Legal to have airsoft gun in car with no red tip?

I have an airsoft pistol under my drivers seat in a case. I have removed the red tip, so it looks realistic to a Glock 19. Is this legal to do? It's not like I would ever pull it on a cop. If a cop ever asked if I had a weapon in the car, I would explain it. It is actually broken too, but I just wanted to see what what happen if they ran into it whether I told them it was there or they found it by search.. I'm in Texas as well.
