F-1 STUDENT WORKING W/O SCHOOL AUTHORIZATION?

I am an F1 student. I am currently in deferrement for my cles in the fall semester because I am pregnant and I am having some medical problems with my pregnancy. However, that comes in handy for me because I owe the school 8,000 for past due fees and I need to get those paid to also return to school. I was working on a CPT but that has ended. The school called my employer and told them that it ended for the spring/summer semester and that I also can not work because of the medical deferrement. But I need to work at least part time to support my baby (father has left) I have my social security card and it says it is for employment purposes only and that it is DHS authorization. My question is can I still work at another job without the school approval? I was told by my International Student advisor that I should not do that but I am pregnant and NEED money to support my baby and to pay my school fee's! I was told that they (international student advisor) tell you that to scare you but I don't want to mess up status but will the school know and find out about me working even if I don't get authorization from them? Do they check and see if you are working? I really need to work! Thanks!
