Religious Education?

It's right that people should be able to believe whatever they want and decide to pursue a religion, but should children be subjected to religious indoctrination at school? A child of early school years has abrain that's receptive and malleable. Is it acceptable to take advantage of this state to brainwash a child into accepting misguided religious teachings?
