Atheists, kind of a long question here. Not too insulting.?

Actually not too insulting at all but now that I've got your attention: what are the different values of the 2 different directions we atheists can take our questions and answers in? What I mean is ...we can use y?a R/S to poke fun at and ridicule the christian beliefs ( my personal favorite ) or we can come here and constantly calmly respectfully point out the same flaws in their reasoning, over and over again. If I understand this correctly the polite approach is intended to win converts by showing how approachable we are and by capitalizing on our easily maintained 'we're not a bunch of raving lunatics' reputation. After all, the only thing that might seem crazy about atheists would be how much we despise religion. If we fix that we come off looking like Spock which throws the spot light on the insanity of religion. On the other hand I think Pat Condell from youtube has a point when he says that the only way to bring religion down is to refuse to legitimize it by treating it ...
