What are your reasons for not living abroad or not learning about what happens outside your country?

I'd love to study abroad but can't affoard it. I honestly think the main reason people do study abroad isn't to learn but rather because it's a fun extended vacation. I still learn a lot about other countries from books and from people I meet who are from other countries.
